Join the Community!

The NQC Community spans the world and includes everyone who has been part of the spaces that are the foundation of NQC. The majority of the community is queer, neurodivergent, disabled, and/or chronically ill - and in the process of neuroqueering our creative practice, professional work, and personal/political lives. Joining the community opens you up to spaces and people who are similarly committed to radical social justice and unlearning oppressive structures, and who recognise the power of creative practice. See below for info about the two main community spaces we host: Creative Space & NQC Skool Community.

Creative Space

Mondays, 5-6pm & Thursdays, 10-11am UK via Zoom

Creative Space (formally Writing Sprints) are community body-doubling hours that offer an opportunity to dedicate time and space to your creative practice, in all the spirally, iterative, expansive ways it may show up for you.  Body-doubling can help us engage with tasks and activities that we might otherwise struggle to engage with on our own.

What makes these spaces different from other online body-doubling spaces?
  • Gently structured into smaller 'chunks' of time, with opportunities to breathe, stretch, ground, and refocus in between.
  • No expectation to produce anything. You might use the space for writing, art-making or other creative practices, but the virtual company of others may also help motivate you to get in the shower, start folding laundry, or catch up on life admin.
  • Larger spaces like the LWS Writing Hours (which are great) can feel overwhelming. Too many people can sometimes feel just like no people. Average Creative Space attendance is around 10-12 people, with many regular attendees. This helps create a warm, genuine sense of community.
  • No expectation to speak, share, or be on camera. Everyone has the chance to check in and check out - but this is never required.
  • KR's specially curated playlist of lo-fi beats to create to.
Free, lifetime access to Creative Space is available to all course & club attendees, individual mentoring clients, and all NQC Skool Community subscribers.
If you are a current or previous course or club member, or 1:1 client of one of our facilitators, and you do not currently have access to Creative Space (formerly Writing Sprints), please use the link below to contact NQC.

About Skool

What is Skool?

From Google: "Skool is an all-in-one online platform for creators, coaches, and businesses to build and monetize communities, blending social features (like forums & live chats) with course hosting (classrooms) and event calendars, all within a gamified environment that encourages engagement with points and leaderboards, functioning like a mix of a Facebook group and an online course platform. It helps users create their own branded "schools" where members join free or paid groups to learn, network, and access exclusive content, making it easier to manage a business and build a loyal audience."

Why is NQC using Skool?

At its heart, Skool is a community-building platform with a smooth, easy-to-use interface that enables NQC to offer both free and low-cost access and materials.

For the sake of transparency, Skool does have a bit of 'tech-bro' vibe - and a lot of initial users have built communities based on teaching people how to make money on Skool itself (it offers an 'affiliate' programme where creators can earn income by signing up new Skool creators, but NQC is not engaging in this element). However, it is still a fairly young platform in its current form, and from what I (KR) can tell, more artists, writers and creatives are using the platform as an alternative to the dominant social media platforms. This is because all creators retain ownership of all content shared on Skool, they have full control of their individual communities, there are no advertisements, and communities are built around genuine interaction and engagement.

I have been looking for the 'right' container for the NQC community since before it had a name. Many options feel clunky (Discord, Mighty Networks) or too segmented (my website groups), or too aligned with mega-corporations (Facebook, Instagram) and the options we've tried in the past have had limited uptake for these reasons. Skool is a space that can encompass the whole community and will hopefully be a platform people want to engage with. Our Skool 'experiment' is not a money-making venture (we'll be making less on Skool subscriptions than on website club subscriptions), but about trying to find the right space for this particular community,

In order to see if Skool is actually the right fit for us, NQC is spending 2026 really encouraging people to join Skool by offering the following incentives. Check out what signing up for Skool will get you.
