All Clubs

Clubs are ‘practice’ spaces where members of the NQC community meet to engage in particular creative practices, with gentle guidance and invitations from facilitators. These meet monthly throughout the year and can be joined (or left) at any time, via monthly subscription.

Below are all current clubs offered by the NQC Facilitator community. Make sure you receive announcements and updates about the clubs you're interested in by subscribing to our email list!

First Sunday of the Month

7-8:30pm UK via Zoom

Starts Feb 1st!

Queer Book Club!

w/ Jordan

Queer Book club (QBC) is in session! Are you longing for a space to passionately discuss queer books from all over the world? We are in an age where caring is "cringe" and passion is off-putting; QBC is a space that welcomes, with open arms, passion, intensity, and probing deep—whether it's into the text, ourselves, or the world. Whether you love or detest a book, a character, a plot line, or the assumptions the author is making, your passion and fiery insights are what QBC is made for. In Queer Book Club, we'll learn about ourselves, each other, and the world through our engagement with literary texts, poetry collections, essay collections, and more. Just as Neuroqueer Creative celebrates the liberation and plurality of gender, so too does QBC celebrate the plurality of genre. The possibilities are endless! Bring your mug of tea and your dog-eared pages. I look forward to chatting with you. Who this is for: - People who long for spirited and stimulating conversation. - Readers of different levels and abilities. - Readers who are willing to experiment and try different genres. - People! with! opinions! Who this is not for: - Readers who are not comfortable with witnessing experiences different from their own. The emphasis will be on reading queer books from the global majority and works in translation, because these books deserve to be read and celebrated more in the white western world. - People uncomfortable with being challenged. The best conversations are those that encourage and welcome various perspectives and interpretations of the text and life. The word "discussion" derives from the Latin "to disperse"—aka "to shake up." Open dialogue gifts us the opportunity to shake apart our preconceptions. What you can expect: Monthly 90 minute meetings: - 15 minutes to chat and catch up - 65 minutes to discuss the book of the month - 10 minutes to close, share takeaways, and introduce next month's book pick An open vote to choose upcoming books Guiding questions to consider as you read each book A Signal group chat to keep up with book club members in between meetings A book to read each month Please note: sessions will not be recorded.

Third Sunday of the Month

7-8:30pm UK via Zoom

Starts Feb 15th!

Bad Zine Club!

w/ Leif & Sonya

3_edited.jpg

Similar to the Bad Art Club, but in the form of Zines! Zines (pronounced "zeens") are small, self-published, non-commercial booklets or pamphlets, often photocopied and assembled by hand, offering a platform for personal expression, niche interests, and counter-cultural voices outside mainstream media. We believe that everyone can and should be making more zines! Each session will include an optional warm-up activity and the chance to learn about and make zines together in parallel play time, as well as share what we have made and be witnessed in our creative experience. As an added bonus each month members will receive a special “digital collage pack” with found elements to add to their collection of clippings. No experience needed.

Second Sunday of the Month

7-8:30pm UK via Zoom

Starts Feb 8th!

Bad Art Club!

w/ Leif & Sonya

Blue Paint Splatter

The Bad Art Club is a Peer2Peer (P2P) accountability practice space where everyone is welcome… Whether you are a practicing artist or someone who hasn’t made art since you were a kid, this club is for you. The facilitators of the Bad Art Club believe that not only can EVERYONE CAN MAKE ART but that EVERYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM MAKING ART. We believe that art can heal, celebrate, transcend, make you feel more alive and that the world needs more “bad” art. The bad art club is all about letting go of a perfectionist mindset when it comes to making art. It’s about getting messy, rejecting instruction, staying with the discomfort and just seeing what happens. Join us for some collective art making. Each session will include art prompts and creative inquiries for the session, or the options to just work with what you already have on the go and consider this a body-doubling opportunity. No experience needed.

Fourth Sunday of the Month

2-3:30pm UK via Zoom

Starts Feb 22nd!

Writing Club!

w/ Ashleigh

Laptop And Coffee

Writing Club is a gently structured body doubling space where we will remind ourselves of and return to neuroqueering practices in our writing process. Respond to or reflect on the creative invitations shared by the facilitator or work on your own on-going projects. Sessions will have time allotted for group check-ins, shares and check-outs. Open to both experienced writers and those completely new to the form. No experience needed!
