Tarot for Creatives: Creating in Our Wandering Seasons w/ Erika Phoenix & Marina King

This workshop uses tarot as a tool for intuitively engaging with our creative practice.


As artists, we often juggle multiple projects with no clear deadlines and multiple priorities in our creative practice. It's easy to get lost amongst our own thoughts and what the world expects of us. We often end up overwhelmed by lost and forgotten projects. In this course, we will use tarot to gently facilitate projects through their natural seasons, from seed to harvest and, when needed, hibernation.

This 4-week course is for creatives of all disciplines who are starting something new, feeling stuck in their process, or juggling multiple projects. Tarot is offered as an additional reflective tool for checking in on where you are in your creative process, within a low-pressure, take-what-you-need, leave-the-rest learning space. This course is for creatives seeking an intuitive resource to guide them through confusion or creative blocks. We will explore our personal artistic practice through tarot spreads and creative invitations. No tarot experience needed. Bring your own deck, or an online link to a digital tarot deck will be provided.

Session Descriptions:

Session 1 - The Journey of the Cards

Where are you starting from? Everyone is at different stages of their tarot journey as well as their creative practice journey. In this session, we touch on history, tarot inspired artwork, and the journeys we pass through in the Major and Minor Arcana.

Session 2 - Elements

The elements of air, water, earth, and fire are seen throughout tarot. As creatives, these elements influence the different mediums in which we work. In this session, we will explore the relationship of tarot to the physical processes of undertaking our creative work. Are the cards urging us towards research or recording? Exploring a new medium? We will explore the influences of the elements in our creative practice and how they can reveal obstacles or open doors that we didn't see before.

Session 3 - Play

What if we threw everything out and started with something else? Tarot started as a card game and later developed into the intuitive tool we use today. In this session, we explore alternate ways to weave tarot into our creative practice by finding the joy of exploration and surprise when we use tarot for storytelling in new and unexpected ways.

Session 4 - Tarot for All Seasons

This workshop will culminate in a series of tarot layouts which you can use to support you in different realms for your creative process. There will be invitations to discuss our discoveries with one another as they relate to our personal practice.

Throughout the workshops there will be opportunities to use the cards to check in with your creative process, practice and projects.

Sessions will be recorded and shared with all ticket holders.

Tickets are available at three price points, each with a 2-month payment plan option.

About Erika:

Erika Phoenix (she/they) is a non-binary, neurodivergent artist, writer, performer & activist based in Wales, who has worked for many years as a theatre arts educator. They believe everyone should have access to the arts as a means of self-exploration, and through their advising, facilitating, and project planning, they support creatives in making the things that they want to make.

About Marina:

Marina King (she/they) is a creative mentor, tarot practitioner, and founder of Neurokin Network, a social enterprise offering neurodistinct graduates a transitional pathway of self-discovery, creative agency, and systemic change. She appreciates how Tarot offers a sometimes playful, sometimes rigorous tool for reflection; inviting us into pattern tracking, asking deeper questions, and reclaiming inner authority to live more of our lives on our terms. To them, creativity is a social justice practice: non-linear thinking, story, and imagination insidiously and effectively disrupt systems built on conformity and extraction.
