Tickets for this course are available at three price points.

General Admission represents the actual cost of a course place.

Subsidised Tickets are for those who are unable to afford the GA ticket cost

Accomplice Tickets are for those who can afford to pay a bit extra to help cover the costs of Subsidised Tickets.

All three tiers are available in three monthly instalments.

Accomplice: £84 (or three monthly instalments of £28)

We are aiming for a minimum of 12 paying attendees. If we meet this minimum, we will run the course and be able to offer extra free spaces. So please share this course with anyone you think might be interested.

About the Space:

Inspired by Audre Lorde’s Uses of the Erotic as Power, this three-session Creative Erotic Practice Space offers a small, intentional container for exploring the erotic as a source of creative inspiration and resource.

Across three gatherings, we’ll engage in the practice of liberation through creative embodied practice, together.  Through art making, poetry writing and simple movement practices paired with collective reflection and sharing we will explore what it means to notice and nurture what makes us feel alive, connected, curious, desirous, and fully ourselves.

Registration is required so we can create an intentional relational container where we can arrive, get to know one another, and build trust over the three sessions.

Course Outline:

Session One — October 6: Opening the Space

We’ll meet one another, share what has drawn us here, and begin exploring our own relationship with the erotic through creative practice.

Session Two — November 3: Following Aliveness

We’ll deepen our exploration through art-making and practices that invite us to notice pleasure, desire, sensation, and creative energy.

Session Three — December 1: Gathering the Threads

We’ll reflect on what has emerged and explore how we might carry the erotic as a creative resource into our everyday lives.

No previous art experience is needed. Come curious. Come as you are.

This is a time to drop in for some creative debriefing with Sonya - sessions will take shape based on the needs of who shows up.  Bring your questions, reflections, stuck spots related to any of the sessions Sonya is facilitating or co-facilitating.  These sessions are open and accessible for folks to drop in as they wish and are available to attendees of all Sonya's sessions including the Unlearning Series.

About the Facilitator:

Sonya (she/they) is a polydisciplinary creator whose practice is rooted in living decolonization, neuroqueer world-making, and justice-oriented mutual care (that sure is a mouthful! they are also at times very playful/goofy, and considered by some to be hilarious)

A white settler of irish, germanic bukovinian ancestry, Sonya currently lives on and benefits from the unceded stolen lands of the Xwsepsum and lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, colonially known as vancouver island canada. Sonya’s practice is an emerging action of coming into right relationship with land, place and time - and the impact that their ongoing presence on unceded lands has on local peoples.

As a recovering benevolent, their work is deeply personal and related to their own lived experiences of struggle, grief and transformation. They are a neuroqueer solo mom to two autistic teens surviving in capitalism. Having spent 23 years as an Registered Nurse working in healthcare (street outreach, reproductive justice, harm reduction), she became increasingly aware of the violence of the status quo and the role she played in that. Last year, they gave up their registration as a nurse – but kept all the lived experience with people and relationships! Refocusing their practice towards art and creative practice, she works from a decolonial, intersectional framework that centers relationship and access.

Through relational, somatic (body-based) art-making, Sonya's work fosters emergent growth, embodied political action, and a critical awareness, weaving the interconnectivity of the personal, collective, and systemic narratives and movements that shape us and that we shape.

Sonya has a Master's in Public Health, a graduate certificate in systems design, and has completed their Art Therapy post-grad at Kutenai Art Therapy Institute. They are currently a member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association, a facilitator with the Erotics of Liberation Practice Field, and a care weaver member of The Liberatory Wellness Network (LWN).
