About the event
Intuitive Collage Workshop w/ KR Moorhead (Accidental Collage)
Saturday, Aug 29th, 3-4:30pm UK
This is an in-person event that takes place at SOCO Studios, 14b Pottergate, Norwich, NR2 1DS, and is being hosted as part of Katherine Gilmartin's solo exhibition, Narrative Anticlimax, which opens Thursday, Aug 27th, 6-9pm and daily from 10-4 over the Bank Holiday weekend.
This loosely structured, open workshop space is an opportunity to experiment with analogue collage as an intuitive art making practice. KR will support participants in creating their own analogue collage pieces by gently guiding them in choosing materials, constructing compositions, and navigating technical issues. The session will open with some suggestions and invitations for ways to start, then there will be plenty of time for material gathering, making, chatting and sharing. Participants will be encouraged not to 'overthink' or get stuck in 'perfectionism'. The focus will be on making over meaning. KR will be on hand to offer suggestions and answer questions as they arise.
All materials are provided, although feel free to bring any of your own. No experience necessary - open to both novice and expert alike.
Notes on accessibility:
The venue is fairly small but with high ceilings. If the weather is nice we can have the door open. However, I do highly recommend that participants wear masks to protect their fellow workshop attendees who may be chronically-ill and/or immunocompromised, or who may have close friends and family who are.
Although the venue itself is technically wheelchair accessible, unfortunately at this time, the restroom is not. However, we are smack dab in the middle of the city centre so there are accessible rest rooms in the close vicinity.
If you have specific access needs or questions regarding accessibility, please don't hesitate to contact kr@neuroqueercreative.com.
Spaces are limited to 10 participants
Tickets are Pay What You Can with a minimum of £5 and a suggested price of £15. All ticket fees go to cover the materials used and the facilitator's time. There is one free place available as standard, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please only book this place if you are unable to reasonably afford the £5 minimum.
Please note that tickets are non-refundable. If you can no longer attend for any reason, please contact kr@neuroqueercreative.com
KR Moorhead (they/them) is an AuDHD, gender-defiant, writer, collage artist and creative facilitator. Their day job is as a creative writing educator via City Lit and Neuroqueer Creative Studios, but they also create analogue collage art as Accidental Collage, and are currently working on both a contemporary fantasy novel and a serialised, hybrid memoir. KR has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia and spent over 15 years as a leacturer in creative writing before choosing to leave academia in order to create more accessible, inclusive, anti-capitalist, and anti-colonial (ie 'neuroqueer') creative learning spaces.
